How to Set up a Profile that gets you 15% More Followers

I talk a lot about writing tips, Threads Growth tips, sharing your truths, etc…

But one thing I see people neglect over and over again is the right profile setup.

But you have to realize:

The first thing people see is your picture and bio. So you have to treat your Thread profile like a landing page. 

Because you want people to click follow when they see your profile.

While your content is the main reason people follow you, your profile is important. Don't disregard that.

You can literally increase your Threads Profile conversion rate (#profile visits/#new followers) up to 15% (without changing anything else).

So, yes - optimizing your Threads profile is VERY important (if you want to grow quickly🙂).

And for an optimal profile, you need to:

1. Use your bio and Picture to CLAIM your authority

2. Use your pinned tweet to PROVE your authority

3. Use your profile link to CONVERT your authority (i.e. push people into your funnel)

Let’s break each of them down:

1. Your Profile Picture

Your Profile Picture should be clear and eye-catching. You should look like somebody who's trying to grow their Thread audience.

You want a clear, good-looking, aesthetic profile picture. No selfies or photos of you hanging out. It should represent somebody who's serious and committed.

Here’s my advice:

• No shitty photos from your phone.

• Get a professional headshot (yes, hire a photographer)

• Show your vibe (e.g. if you’re smiley, be smiley. If you’re stoic, be stoic etc.)

You’re investing 100s of hours (or more) into your brand. Don’t waste them because you were too cheap to spend money making yourself look like a professional.

2. Bio

Now here you can do many things. Here’s how I’d set it up:

• List any credibility

List anything credible to you.

Have you grown a following on another platform?
Do you have a degree?
Do you have any relevant working experience?

List anything that makes you credible.

I studied Psychology and I gained 9000+ Followers within a month. Of course, I'm going to mention that.

Other examples: "I have 10.000 Followers on Twitter", "I'm a doctor," "SEO expert,". “20+ years experience as a Therapist”, “helped 100+ clients grow their business”, “generated $100k+ for my clients, etc...

If you lack credibility, that's okay. You can build a good profile without it. Document your journey to becoming a credible source.

But once you do have something credible to show that fits your offer, mention it!

• Value Proposition

This is done by saying: "I help X do Y.”

Example:

”I help Entrepreneurs and professionals transform their bodies, minds & energy.”

This value proposition can easily be combined with Credibility. In this case, it's an Online Body Transformation Coach.

Here’s what mine says:

”I help Psychologists & Coaches get 1000s of new followers in less than 30 days”

• Call to Action

If you want people to visit your website, newsletter, products, or other social media platforms, tell them to do so!

Words like "work with me," "read for free," and "Get my FREE E-Book" work well. Make sure to use an arrow pointing down (⬇️👇).

3. Profile Link

Threads allow you to insert a link into your bio.

I have a link to my website or newsletter (depending on what I want to promote). Others have a whole linktree embedded in there.

Whatever you do - make use of the profile link and lead your followers somewhere!

4. Pinned Thread

Everybody serious about Threads should have a pinned Thread.

Your pinned Thread should be an introduction to yourself. Explain what you talk and are passionate about, and what you do.

Is there anything you want to promote? That's the perfect space to promote an E-book you created, link to your newsletter, or promote your website.

Do you offer any services? Do you offer Ghostwriting, Coaching, or any form of counseling? Let people know!

If you have none of the above, that's okay. You can also pin a Thread that you're really proud of - a thread that performed well.

But make sure your Thread is compelling and keeps the reader engaged as you would do with a regular Thread.
