how I'm making money by writing online
If I'd start over I'd follow this 9-step blueprint
I’ve been creating on social media for a lil bit over 12 months now.
From making zero money at the beginning of 2024 to now traveling the world with money I’m making from my online business (still can’t believe it sometimes).
And the best thing?
I’m actually enjoying it. When I wake up in the morning I would nothing rather do than working on my business (on most days 🙂 )
I spent my days writing about Psychology & the art of writing, having calls with my clients, responding to messages, and writing to you guys in my newsletter.
And I love it.
The level of freedom I have is incredible. Of course, it’s stressful at times - the uncertainty, loneliness, and responsibility can get to you but when these feelings come up, I remember:
I can be wherever I want and I work on my business. Writing about topics I’m truly passionate about. Nobody telling me what to do.
Like come on, I should feel grateful every day (I’m trying my best).
And I truly believe that it’s possible for everybody. But the problem is that many start businesses based on what would make them money quickly. Not based on their interest. But that’s not sustainable.
You’re in business for life, so whatever you do, you have to make sure to actually enjoy it. Otherwise don’t even start.
Because if not, you will end up hating what you do - and who wants to work on something for 30-50 years without even liking it?
So the alternative is: Explore your unique interest, create content around your passions and find a way to monetize. And today I want to propose to you what I would do if I’d start over:
1. Find your uniqueness
You want to create content about your interests and expertise. In order to do that you need to explore:
The books you buy or want to buy
Your browser or YouTube watch history
The interest you been wanting to pursue
Meditate on this for 10min and you know what to create.
2. Consume Good Content
It's simple:
The higher-quality content you consume, the higher the quality your writing.
Now, this doesn't mean to copy others' content. It should inspire you.
A writer doesn't create something out of nowhere - they consume, reframe, and build upon what they consume.
3. Educate!
Every post you write should TEACH your audience.
Most people write philosophical quotes, boring anecdotes, and fluff content. I don't - Instead, I focus on:
showing my expertise (degree in Psychology, Writing Mentor, audience growth)
personal transformations (weight loss, from lost to purposeful)
provide value for my audience (writing, growth, branding tips)
4. Show Credibility
I often start my posts by showing my credibility.
Do you have a degree?
Gained X followers in X days?
Any relevant working experience?
I studied Psychology and I gained 8000+ Followers within a month. Of course, I'm going to leverage that.
5. Speak Your Truth
Most online writing is generic, boring, and replaceable (especially those using AI).
So stand out by voicing your deepest truth. Voice the things nobody dares to speak about to make your writing immortal.
You might encounter hate but you will also gain a true loyal following and trust within your audience.
The reality is: Most writers on Threads suck.
So how to stand out? Up your writing game and you jump right to the top (my clients gain 1000+ followers a week by me editing their content).
For starters: Cut your writing by 20%, remove filler words, don't use adverbs, and write for a 5th-grade audience.
If you want engaged Followers who read your content consistently then you need to build connections.
Collaborate, connect, and grow with fellow creators - don’t try to do this “Online Creator game” on your own - connecting with others will propel your growth massively. A
nd the more you try to help them rather than get something from them, the more you grow.
8. Follow the 8-Step System to monetize your writing
Social media platforms give you attention. To convert your readers into buyers you need the following:
Create an Offer (Life Coach, Business Mentor, Threads Growth Coach, Ghostwriting...)
Educate about Your Offer: (Writing Coach educates about how to write)
Give value for FREE (free guide, templates, e-book, or webinar)
Include a Call To Action in your posts (DM me, subscribe, follow,...)
Outreach to prospects and be active in the DM's
Ask them to hop on a call with you
Show them your offer
Convert to paying customers.
Follow these 8 steps and getting your first paying client is inevitable.
9. Flex your results
Whenever you achieve results for you or your client, post them!
Explain:
The problem you or your client was facing
The results you achieved
How you did it
Do this, and people will start reaching out to you for more work.
That’s it! And please if you have any questions left on how to build an audience online and monetization, reply to this e-mail and I get back to you (I respond to everybody)
With love,
Heythem
